Matthew (he/him) is thrilled to join the XU faculty teaching voice and speech. Matthew is an interdisciplinary artist, sought out voice and speech educator, and director/choreographer who’s currently on faculty at York University, Randolph College for the Performing Arts, and the Moving Voice Institute. He has taught voice and musical theatre workshops at The Juilliard School, Circle in the Square Theatre School, Hart House/University of Toronto, Brock University, Musical Stage Company, The Stratford Festival, Neptune Theatre, Transcendence Theatre Company, and many others. Matthew is the Executive Board Chair of lbs/sq” performance, the 2022 VASTA@ATHE Focus Group Conference Planner, holds an M.F.A. in Performance from York University, and is on the road to becoming a designated Kristin Linklater voice teacher. Founder & Creative Director of @bodypresenceworkshop, Matthew holds space to passionately integrate and embody breath, voice, and movement practices in order for artists to refine the interplay between internal sensations with external sounds and gestures. Selected Director/Choreographer credits: BROADWAY UNDER THE STARS (Transcendence Theatre Company, Sonoma CA), 4TH OF JULY SYMPHONY CELEBRATION (Green Music Center, Santa Rosa CA), SOUL KITCHEN (Choreographer, Joe’s Pub NYC), PROM QUEEN (The Grand, Associate), and CHELSEA SUNRISE (Theatre Sheridan, Assistant). As a performer, selected credits span from Broadway (Tony nominated JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR), Off-Broadway (ZORBA), National Tours (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF), ‘Zach’ in A CHORUS LINE – B’way World SF nomination, and ‘Flute/Thisbe’ in Theatre Rusticle’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM – Dora nomination.
