From the Chair

Caroline O'Brien

It is such a pleasure to be writing a message to current and prospective students, colleagues and our larger community, expressing the joyful elation of how it feels to be welcoming young / emerging artists and guests back to our studios, and audiences back to our performances - It's amazing!! I'm so proud of our community for the ways we made things work in order to get through lockdown(s), and the ways we have worked together for the sake of the thing we are here for: education in the arts! A big shout out to the families who supported your young folk through it all, even when it was overwhelmingly daunting - thank you to everyone for your support, offered in countless small and not so small ways.

We are offering a season of delights to feature students across three programs and four years of study: We offer new plays, new choreographies, main stage and black box, partnerships that take us off campus with fourth year students in all programs; and capstone projects early in the spring that call upon the graduating class to bring their own creative expression to the fore.

I encourage everyone to stay close to our website as we continue to update in the coming weeks and months - do keep up with our breaking news! The primary focus here in Performance at The Creative School is education: to share opportunities and experiences that will require courage and risk, will break us down and build us back up again, and will have impact on the world around us. We are grateful for the support of our community, both internal and external; we celebrate the accomplishments of our students; and we continue to grow together, through this process of making Performance together.

Wishing you all the excitement of gathering together in person once again!

Warmest regards,

Dr. Caroline O’Brien
