Biography

Donna Schatz is a PhD candidate (ABD) in the Department of Political Science at York University where she specializes in Women and Politics and Canadian Politics.  She holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science from York University as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Double Honours in Political Studies & English from the University of Saskatchewan.

Donna’s doctoral research provides a critical race/ postcolonial, political economy, and public policy analysis of urban marginalization as well as an examination of the potential of community organizations and social activism.  She has published and presented various conference papers on the topics of urban Indigenous politics and gender, race, and multiculturalism in Canada, along with women, sex work, and human rights.

The courses Donna has taught in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Ryerson University include CPOG 100: People, Power, and Politics; C\POG 315: Equity and Human Rights, C\PPA 125: Rights, Equity, and the State; CPOL 106: The Politics of Human Needs; C\POL 501: Women, Power and Politics; and C\POL 510; The Politics of Sexual Identity. 

Donna Schatz has also been employed as a part-time instructor in the departments of Political Science and Geography at York University as well as the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus.
