Develop the ideas and ingenuity of the behind-the-scenes professionals who help bring new projects to life. Use creativity and technical skills to facilitate the many aspects of a stage show, from sets and props, to lighting and sound, to technical direction and theatre management.

*Actual minimum grade ranges required for Fall 2019 admission/wait list consideration will be determined based on grades and qualifications presented by the applicant pool as they become available. Required grade ranges may fluctuate from year to year (up or down) as a result of competition. Applicants not educated in Ontario may present the equivalent of the Ontario requirements. Ryerson reserves the right to determine equivalency at its sole discretion.

Visiting directors, choreographers and other artists; annual season of theatre and dance productions; comprehensive practical training; theatre and industry tours; independent project.

After Graduation

Make an impact on Canada’s performing arts industries with advanced training in this vibrant field: work in stage, film, television, festivals and concerts; explore roles such as director, lighting or sound technician; become a set or costume designer, stage manager or teacher; work in trade and industrial shows. Pursue a postgraduate program in the arts.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program specific requirements.

Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher pre-requisite grades and/or higher overall averages:

  • English/Anglais (ENG 4U/EAE 4U preferred).
  • The minimum grade required in the subject prerequisite (normally in the 65-70% range) will be determined subject to competition.

Instructions on how to arrange an entrance audition/interview will be provided in an invitation from Undergraduate Admissions. This letter will be placed in your Choose>Ryerson Applicant Portal shortly after your application has been received by Ryerson.
