Our Time to Lead

Ryerson’s five-year academic plan, establishes the university’s vision to become Canada’s leading comprehensive innovation university. It builds upon Ryerson’s proud traditions and expands the university’s strengths for relevant programs and SRC activities, its engaging and diverse learning and teaching environment that integrates theory with practice, and strong relationships with external communities.

Over the next five years, Ryerson will focus on four interconnected priorities:

  1. Enable greater student engagement and success through exceptional experiences;
  2. Increase SRC excellence, intensity and impact;
  3. Foster an innovation ecosystem; and
  4. Expand community engagement and city building.

A set of 29 strategies support the priorities and gives ample opportunity for the university’s faculties, schools, departments and administrative units to interpret and activate the plan locally. Our Time to Lead is also the first academic plan at Ryerson to include a set of 14 values. They range from academic freedom and sustainability to lifelong learning and inclusion.

Shaping Our Future

Shaping Our Future aimed to build on and expand our Ryersons's strengths by largely preserving the University’s current priorities as established in the Quality Agenda: student engagement and success, growth in Scholarly, Research and Creative (SRC) activity, graduate growth, and reputation enhancement. The plan envisioned not radical change, but constructive change and growth intended to support Ryerson’s journey along its own distinctive path.

Shaping Our Future proposes five principal priorities:

  1. High Quality, Societally-Relevant Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
  2. Student Engagement and Success
  3. Learning and Teaching Excellence
  4. SRC Intensity
  5. Reputation
