The successful ESL/EAL (English as a Second Language/English as an Additional Language) programs of Ryerson University’s Real Institute, located in downtown Toronto, use theme-based curricula developed by the University’s language acquisition experts. The thematic module approach promotes student engagement and motivation and leads to each student taking responsibility for their own language learning.
Other key components of the ESL/EAL programs include:
- Unique experiential learning activities, both curricular and extra-curricular
- Highly qualified instructors who provide individual attention to students’ learning needs
- Peer Mentor support system at a ratio of 1 mentor for every 10 students
- Balance of academic studies with cultural immersion and social activities in Canada’s most vibrant and culturally diverse city, including visits to popular attractions, cultural sites, and any of the five Major League sports clubs
All programs of the Real Institute at Ryerson University take place in a brand-new dedicated facility located in downtown Toronto that fosters a strong sense of community and welcome.
