The Dean's Service Award recognizes exceptional or distinguished service to a Department, School, Faculty and/or the University.
Award recipient(s) will receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary award of $2,000 as a one-time payment (subject to applicable deductions).

Pnina Alon-Shenker
Faculty of Law and School of Business Management, Department of Law and Business, Ted Rogers School of Management
Dr Pnina Alon-Shenker is an exemplar of dedication to service. She is uniformly revered by her colleagues as a pillar of selfless service. In the past year alone she has served on the Law & Business Department department’s DHC (during an especially busy year), DEC, and CLAC, as well as chairing the DHC for the new Faculty of Law. She also served on the Search Committee for the new Dean of Law and the Search Committee for the Chang School. She is also tirelessly devoted to Ryerson Legal Clinic, a one-of-a-kind undergraduate clinic she founded in 2012.
Roberto Botelho
Department of Chemistry and Biology, Faculty of Science
Since joining Ryerson in 2008, Dr. Roberto Botelho has displayed an outstanding commitment to Ryerson through his many service contributions. Collectively, Dr. Botelho's contributions facilitated the development of new undergraduate and graduate programs and enhanced the curriculum of previously existing programs, developed networking opportunities for graduate students, increased research intensity and quality in molecular sciences, and helped develop a vision for Health research at Ryerson. Dr. Botelho is proud of his role in recruiting new faculty members to lead the future of education and scientific research at Ryerson, thus enhancing Ryerson's reputation within the national and international scientific stage.
Ahmed El-Rabbany
Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science
Ahmed El-Rabbany made significant service contributions at the Departmental, Faculty and University levels, which enhance the quality of education in his department and help enhance the reputation of the university. He initiated and organized a number of student engagement events and attracted cash awards to graduate students in the Civil Engineering Program. Ahmed also made important community and professional contributions, including serving as a panel member and speaker at an event organized by Glenforest Secondary School in Mississauga to motivate secondary school students, especially female, to consider science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as a future field of study.
Annika Hillebrandt
School of Business Management, Department of HR Management and Organizational Behavior, Ted Rogers School of Management
Dr. Annika Hillebrandt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of HR/OB, Ted Rogers School of Management. Annika has been an active and engaged member of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee over the past year. She has shown a strong commitment to ensuring that the TRSM undergraduate curriculum is excellent and in particular represents the interests of the HR/OB students very well. She has contributed new creative ideas and has gone above and beyond in supporting the initiatives of the UCC. She is also willing to take the time to listen to new ideas and suggestions and offer well-reasoned points.
Sharareh Taghipour
Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science
Dr. Taghipour has provided outstanding service to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, FEAS, and Ryerson University. She has been a member and the Chair of DHC and DEC for several consecutive years, and served as a member of several other committees including Ryerson’s strategic research plan (SRP) steering committee, and the search committee for two Ryerson research leadership positions. Dr. Taghipour has also served as the Regional Editor of the Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering (JQME), and the Associate Editor for the Proceedings of the Reliability and Maintainability Symposium being held annually in the United States.
