Dr. Carla Cassidy is a faculty member in the Department of Politics and Public Administration, has been chair of that department, a two-term dean of the Faculty of Arts, and interim vice-president, research and innovation. As dean, Dr. Cassidy shepherded the Faculty of Arts along an extraordinary trajectory of growth. She has served on numerous university wide search and selection committees, sat on the university’s RFA CA negotiating team and chaired dozens of other planning committees. She has negotiated partnerships with the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, and the First Nations Technical Institute to deliver public administration education to fire personnel and indigenous administrators. She is an exemplary member of the Ryerson Community and the worthiest of recipients for the Errol Aspevig Award that celebrates another outstanding Ryersonian.
Department of Chemistry and Biology, Faculty of Science
Dr. Darrick Heyd is associate dean of undergraduate programs and student affairs in the Faculty of Science and has served as chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biology. In the last 5 years, Darrick has been a leader and/or major contributor in the launching of the Biomedical Science undergraduate degree, helping science students lobby for renovated space, the creation of the Faculty of Science, the recruitment of highly talented new faculty, growing Ryerson's Science Rendezvous event and establishing an Office of Science Outreach and Enrichment. The impact of Darrick's leadership and initiative on the Ryerson community has been both transformative and inspiring. His record of service and testimonials from all levels clearly demonstrates role model leadership of the highest caliber.
