Lifeguard

A Toronto Metropolitan Lifeguard is a highly motivated, dedicated and responsible individual who monitors patrons and ensures a safe swim environment in the University pool, located within the Recreation & Athletic Centre. Lifeguards oversee the safety of pool patrons and act as ambassadors for Toronto Metropolitan Athletics & Recreation with students and community members. Lifeguards work closely with the Head Lifeguard.

Term & Hours/Week

  • Spring/Summer: Full-time (24-35 hrs / week) & Part-time (5-15 hrs / week) 
  • Fall/Winter: Part-time (5-15 hrs / week)

Responsibilities

  • Constant monitoring of pool patrons in and out of the water
  • Review and actively enforce pool rules and safety with patrons and identify any safety issues

Swim Instructor

A Toronto Metropolitan Swim Instructor is a highly motivated, dedicated and responsible individual who teaches swim lessons for patrons in the University pool. Swim Instructors develop and follow lesson plans set forth by the Lifesaving Society, and teach swimmers of a variety of skill levels (non-swimmers to advanced swimmers). Swim Instructors work closely with the Head Lifeguard.

Successful candidates will work part-time hours (typically between 2 – 5 hours weekly).

Customer Service & Outreach Assistant

Training Software & Initiatives Lead

This position is a great opportunity for a student to gain experience in project management, research and training development. The student will review our current student employee training practices and find ways to make them more accessible and self-directed. The student will maintain existing and create new training materials and delivery methods to accommodate diverse learning styles. Intramural Sport and Recreation Clubs Projects Assistant

This is a pivotal role to improve the intramural and recreation clubs programs in making it more efficient with its procedures, policies and planning/organization. The successful candidate will assist the Intramural and Recreation Clubs Co-ordinator to create a marketing and promotion plan with support from our Marketing team, creating necessary procedures and reviewing and updating existing policies for both the intramural and recreation clubs programs. Duties will include but are also subject to addition of, planning of intramural events, promotion, hiring of intramural staff, updating and administering policies and procedures for both programs and assisting with the Coordinator in problem solving issues that arise with recreation clubs during the summer. The intramural program needs a convenor for each sport league that will be responsible for being present for sport nights, scheduling staff, problem solving and communicating with Intramural participants and being able to assist with injuries.  Each Convenor will manage their sport and make sure each night runs without issue.   The main objective of the Convenor is to provide positive communication between participants and the department. The goal is to provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment so all participants are engaged and having a valuable experience. A good knowledge of the sport is an asset and having your CPR and First Aid is strongly recommended.
