Did you know physical movement improves your memory, attention, concentration and problem solving? Elevate your academic game and go from ordinary to extraordinary grades with LEARN TO movement-based classes!

Our enriching Learn To Program is a comprehensive learning experience that opens doors to new skills and abilities. Unlike drop-in sessions, this program offers a progressive curriculum designed to equip participants with new skills and knowledge that last a lifetime. With a one-time enrollment fee, you gain access to learning the skill that best resonates with you. (Note: the fee will vary depending on the offering.) Dive into a world of possibilities with classes like cooking, dancing, self-defense, and more. Our diverse selection ensures there's something for everyone.

Our Learn To Classes are a well-organized, multi-week journey that ensures participants build a strong foundation in their chosen skill. Each week brings new insights and techniques. 

Our Learn To Workshops are a single day event, where you are immersed in a topic with in-depth hands on practice.

The skills you acquire during any Learn To Program stay with you long after the class(es) end, enriching your life and providing opportunities for personal development.

What to Expect:

  • Open to all TMU undergrad & grad students and TMU REC members, unless otherwise stated
  • Smaller class sizes and personalized instruction
  • Classes: run over a 10-week period, unless otherwise stated
  • Workshops: run over 1-day or multiple days
  • Fee will vary according to the offering & whether you are a TMU Student or TMU REC member. (For example: Learn To Dance classes are $25+HST for students and $150+HST for rec members)
  • Registration required, unless otherwise stated
  • Not drop-in style

WOMEN on WEIGHTS!

Once a month a certified female trainer will be working the weight room floor during Women's Only Hours in order to help YOU!

Our female trainer is happy to:

  • Answer questions about weight training
  • Provide assistance with technique & form
  • Demonstrate how to use equipment properly & safely

No Registration Necessary!

First Come, First Serve. For those who identify as women (cis or transgender).

Fridays, on March 1 & April 5, from 10:30am - 12:00pm in the RAC Weight Room.

LEARN TO COOK!

Join TMU Recreation, Student Integrated Health & Wellness, MHSc students & the School of Nutrition as we teach you how to eat on a budget and cook an easy, yummy and healthy dinner recipe: Spaghetti with sauce (beef or vegetarian), side salad with balsamic dressing and mojito mocktails.

Please bring your own takeout or tupperware containers to pack your tasty creations! 

Two workshop options to choose from:

  • March 11th, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
  • March 13th, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

On campus at the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC), room 642.

Open to TMU Undergrad & Grad Students.

Registration opens February 20th.

A $10+HST Registration Fee is required.

Learn To Offerings:

Student learning how to weight train safely & effectively

Uncomfortable in the weight room? Not sure how to use the equipment or the basic principles of weight training safely and effectively? Then this introductory workshop is for you! Designed by women for women, or those who identify as women (cis or transgender). 

In 5 sessions, gain the knowledge and the confidence you need to begin your muscle conditioning journey with a trained and experienced female personal trainer.

Notes:

(1) four workshop options are being offered to choose from

  • Wednesdays, Jan 17 - Feb 14, 11am - 11:45am
  • Thursdays, Jan 18 - Feb 15, 2pm - 2:45pm
  • Wednesdays, Mar 6 - Apr 3, 11am - 11:45am
  • Thursdays, Mar 7 - Apr 4, 2pm - 2:45pm

(2) all sessions are conducted during Women’s Only Hours in the RAC weight room for maximum participant comfort

(3) class size is capped for optimal personal attention, therefore space is limited!

This class is designed to introduce you to the vibrant world of salsa & the latin culture, teaching you the fundamental steps, turns, and styling that will have you dancing with confidence and flair. No partner or previous dance experience is required – just bring your enthusiasm, and get ready to spice up your life with the sultry and exciting moves of salsa!

Learn and practice exciting KPOP dance choreography in this class! Learn choreography that you can film at the end of this course and share with your friends. Move to the beats of your favorite KPOP songs and have fun dancing like the stars.
