AXIA Design, external link, opens in new window, an architecture + interiors firm co-founded by RSID Associate Professor Taymoore Balbaa, received the 3rd place award in the Seoul Photographic Art Museum International Design Competition.

The proposal, Camera Obscura, is a sculptural response to its urban context, creating meaningful public space in a growing metropolitan district. As the first of its kind in Seoul, it creates an evocative and timeless identity of its own. Spherical carvings of the building mass create strong contrasts that are both spatial and tactile, while simple and flexible exhibition rooms meet organic lines of movement within the Museum.
