Be Bold 2020: She Can Coach

Be Bold 2020 is an event series co-sponsored by The Global Experiential Sport Lab (GXS Lab) and She's4Sports, external link. This initiative will give a voice to bold game changers who are making a difference in gender diversity in sports and creating spaces for women and girls to thrive across the industry.

Our first event is 'She Can Coach'. Although there has been some progress in the hiring of women in professional sports including Hayley Wickenheiser, Assistant Coach, Toronto Maple Leafs and Becky Hammon's rise within the San Antonio Spurs NBA franchise, women are still under-represented in coaching. According to the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), women made up only 16% of head coaches and 18% of assistant coaches across 54 Canadian national teams (both men & women).

Come out and hear from our coaching panel of women to find out why this is still the case and what more can be done across the sports industry to remove barriers, so women can coach at all levels.

Panellists include:
Dr. Jennifer Welter, external link | First female coach in the NFL
Shireen Ahmed, external link | Athlete, Coach and Sports Activist
Brittni Donaldson, external link |Assistant Coach, Toronto Raptors

She's4Sports is a digital content and events network made up of over 3500 women and men. Through our content and events, we amplify the voices and contributions of women in sport.

GXS Lab - Women in Sport is a community for women and men to come together and engage in activities and discussions related to gender inequities in sport, sport media and sport business.
