2012 Annual Science Awards
In recognition of the academic achievements of students in the Ryerson Science programs: biology, chemistry, contemporary science, mathematics and its applications, and medical physics.
November 09, 2012
On the 9th of November, 2012, the Faculty of Science held its inaugural Awards Ceremony to celebrate student achievement.
A welcome by Darrick Heyd, Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programme & Student Affairs, was followed by remarks from John Isbister, Interim Provost and Vice President Academic, in which he thanked the founding Dean, Imogen Coe, for her leadership, grace, and humour in the formative months of the Faculty. Dr. Coe then read a letter of greetings from Ryerson University President and Vice-Chancellor Sheldon Levy.
In her keynote speech, "Journeys and Destinations," Dr. Coe took the opportunity to share a glimpse of her own life story with students, and to encourage them to pursue the goals closest to their hearts.
Ambition was the tenor of the whole event. Awards -- many of which are funded by faculty themselves -- were presented to students who have proven extraordinary academic ability and research excellence.
