Fahamida Zahan passionately advocates for gender justice, the attainment of substantive equality rights, in addition to the eradication of gender-based violence – bringing an intersectional feminist lens when critically examining these issues. Currently she is one of the Specialists at Consent Comes First, the Office of Sexual Violence Support and Education at Ryerson University Fahamida recently finished her last year at Osgoode Hall Law School to attain her Juris Doctor (JD) degree. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Toronto, in Women and Gender Studies and Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies. Fahamida has worked with organizations across the GTA including Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic (BSCC), Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape (TRCC/MWAR), Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) Toronto Branch, Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment, University of Toronto Mississauga Student Union (UTMSU) and Elizabeth Fry Toronto. She recently completed a project with the Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) on the Sexual Harassment and Assault Resources Exchange (SHARE) project.
