Third-year Placement - SWP 36A/B Field Practicum

Through your third-year field placement (SWP 36A/B), you will start to develop your practical social work experience by directly interacting with service users. This placement will emphasize understanding social work skills, values and ethics within the community, as well as the organizational and policy of context of practice.

If you’ve been admitted to the Full-time Four Year program, consult the information below for your third year field placement options.

Regular Placement:

  • Term: Fall/Winter
  • Duration: September to April
  • Days/week: Two (typically Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • Hours/week: 14
  • Total hours: 336

Out-of-country/province Placement:**

  • Term: Spring/Summer
  • Duration: May to July/August
  • Total hours: 336

Block Placement:*

  • Term: Spring/Summer
  • Duration: May to July/August
  • Total hours: 336

Work Study Placement:*

  • Term: Fall/Winter
  • Duration: September to April
  • Days/week: Two (typically Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • Hours/week: 14
  • Total hours: 336

Work Study Placement:*

  • Term: Spring/Summer
  • Duration: May to July/August
  • Total hours: 336

Challenge Credit:*

  • Hours/week: 0

If you’ve been admitted to the Full-time Advanced Standing to Second Year program, you’ll receive a transfer credit for SWP 36A/B Field Practicum at the time of admission.

If you’ve been admitted to the Part-time Advanced Standing to Third Year program with a previous diploma, you’ll receive a transfer credit for SWP 36A/B Field Practicum at the time of admission.

If you’ve been admitted to the Part-time Third Year TMU-FNTI collaborative program with a diploma, you’ll receive a transfer credit for SWP 36A/B Field Practicum at the time of admission.
