Question Answer

What is Orientation Week – #RoadtoRyerson 2019?

Ryerson’s Orientation Week takes place the week before classes begin and gives you the chance to connect with other new students, get familiar with your academic program, and get to know your way around campus. Our Orientation Week is designed to meet the needs of all new students.

Every year we offer new events and programs, but every Orientation Week at Ryerson features:

  • Academic program and faculty-specific orientations so you can meet students in your program, find out about faculty-specific resources and get to know your professors.
  • Information about how to access on-campus supports and resources so you know how to find what you need after classes start.
  • Tons of engaging performances, social activities, concerts and giveaways!

When is Orientation Week – #RoadtoRyerson 2019?

Orientation Week starts on Monday, August 26th to Friday, August 30th.

If you’re going to be living in residence, it will start on Move-In Day which is on Sunday, August 25th and end on September 2nd.

Although Orientation Week is not mandatory, it’s the best time to connect with new friends, explore the campus, and take care of the essentials like getting your student card and learning where your classes are.

Where are the Orientation Week events held and how can I get there?

All events listed on our calendar will be marked with a specific location on campus. The locations of the most major events are to be determined and we will update the site accordingly.

These locations are all easily accessible from the Dundas or College TTC Subway stations.
When planning your days on campus during Orientation Week, please look at the Ryerson campus map to see where all events are located: View Ryerson Map Here

If you are driving to campus, Ryerson parking can be found at Dundas and Victoria Street. There is a cost associated with parking your car in this facility.

Is Orientation Week the same as the RSU's Week of Welcome?

Though the Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) and the Central Orientation Team collaborate on many events during Orientation Week, the RSU Week of Welcome is a totally different thing.

Orientation Week runs from August 25th - September 2nd to welcome Ryerson’s new students to campus and help you connect, adjust, and learn about what it means to be a member of our community. This week is coordinated by the Central Orientation Team (a part of the Office of Student Life), with events run by many departments and student societies on campus just for new students!

The RSU Week of Welcome is planned by the Ryerson Students’ Union and runs during the first week of classes, from Tuesday, September 3rd to Friday, September 6th. All Ryerson students, no matter what year of study they’re in, can participate in this week of events designed to inform you about the great programs and services provided by the RSU. The Week of Welcome is not meant to act as an Orientation Week, but rather it augments what you will experience during Orientation.

We encourage you to attend both, but don’t miss out on your Orientation!

I am going to be living in Residence. When can I move in?

For PIT, ILLC, and DCC residence students, the move-in date is Sunday, August 25th. For HOEM residence students, move-in day is Monday, August 26th.

Are all of the Orientation Week events accessible?
