David Schlanger

David Schlanger has enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a professor and as an administrator at the Ted Rogers School of Management. A tenured business faculty member since 1984, David is known for his innovative approach to curriculum development and delivery.

During his first sabbatical in 1991, David wrote and hosted 24 episodes of a radio series on entrepreneurship for Ryerson’s Open College. This series became ENT500: New Venture Start-up that has since been taught to thousands of non-business school students. In 1993, David became host and script advisor to the TVO television series “Writing a Small Business Plan” which was subsequently broadcast across the country.  He then spearheaded the development of a minor in entrepreneurship at Ryerson. In 2006, David redesigned ENT526: Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Strategy, the foundation course for entrepreneurship majors at the Ted Rogers School of Management.

In the corporate world, David has consulted and led workshops in strategic management for many companies including Bell Canada, the Canadian Graphic Arts Training Council, AME Learning, Couche-Tard, the Second Cup, Seligman and Associates, and very recently, for the Careers & Employer Partnerships Centre at the Ted Rogers School of Management. David also consulted for many years exclusively for Morrison Financial Services Ltd. assessing and formulating business turnaround strategies.

In 2008, Professor Schlanger became Director, Office of Student Achievement in the Ted Rogers School of Business Management. It was then that he began teaching and redesigning BUS100: Strategies for Success emphasizing student self-discovery, self-management, engagement, self-authorship and positive thinking. Professor Schlanger has since taught the course to thousands of business students assisted by his talented and spirited teams of senior student facilitators.
