TedPacks

Making friends can feel daunting when starting your first year at university. That’s why Fit for Business created TedPacks. TedPacks are small groups of about 45 first-year students that all share the same class schedule with one another in the first semester, creating a community for students to connect and make friends from around the world. Students remain with the same TedPack for the full academic year as they continue their university journey.

Hear from some students by clicking on the button below.

You'll get access to your TedPack through a Google Room Chat connected to your Ryerson email. In your TedPack you will have one to three TedPack Leaders (first-year students) and also TedPack Mentors (upper-year students) you'll get to meet, chat and connect with to ask any questions you have within just a few clicks.

To find out what TedPack you're in, check your weekly FFB email - the top banner will have your TedPack and your accumulated TedPoints.

Click the button below on instructions on how to join your TedPack Google Room Chat.

Every TedPack has one to three TedPack Leaders. These are first-year students that facilitate and organize virtual meet and greets, activities such as socials, study sessions and more over Zoom. TedPack Leaders share important information and upcoming events for their TedPack to connect online, build community and create friendships. TedPack Leaders will receive a LinkedIn Badge at the end of the academic year.

For students in their first year, you can access intro videos of your TedPack Leader(s) and TedPack Mentor(s), external link.

TedPack Mentors are upper-year Ted Rogers School students that provide mentorship and guidance to TedPack members so they can better succeed in their first year. Why not leverage the knowledge of senior students who've been in your shoes?

Our first-year students receive TedPoints for engagement beyond the classroom, with one TedPoint earned for each hour of engagement across our school.

Why? Because we know that you can maximize your first-year university experience as you access supports beyond the classroom while learning, building your network and a stronger sense of community with other students and the school. Whether it’s a one-on-one chat with a Career Consultant, Learning Strategist or Student Advisor, taking part in a TRSS student group-run event, attending tutoring sessions, Bootcamps, TRSM events, or attending TedPack Leader-hosted study and socials students are rewarded with TedPoints.

“TedPacks have given me the chance to meet so many people and become part of an amazing community within the Ted Rogers School. I can always count on people I’ve met through TedPacks to help and support me whenever I’m in need, and I won’t hesitate to help them back. Not only have TedPacks helped me academically, they’ve also introduced me to many opportunities to excel socially and professionally through info sessions and group socials. Needless to say, TedPacks have made remote learning a lot more engaging.”

“As a first-year in HTM, I was quite nervous about how this virtual year would go and was worried about how to connect with others and make new friends. That's why I decided to become a TedPack Leader. Being in a TedPack gave me a lot of opportunities to make friends and bond with my fellow classmates. Not only has it given me more connections, but the knowledge I gain from this experience is phenomenal. I was able to strengthen my leadership qualities, step out of my comfort zone and connect with upper years.”

“As a TedPack Mentor, I connected with first-year students to enhance their experience and transition into an entirely virtual undergraduate environment. My mentee Harsimran Dhillon blew me away with her determination and passion right out the gate. She wanted to make the most out of her undergraduate journey and it was an absolute pleasure to see her grow and dominate her first year at Ryerson as a TedPack Leader.”
