Welcome message from Dr. Frederic Dimanche, Director, Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
Welcome to Ryerson University! We are delighted that you have chosen the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management to start or continue your higher education journey. You join a select group of people whose academic promise and accomplishments qualify them to engage the challenging and exciting life of a Ryerson University student.
As Canada’s premier Hospitality and Tourism Management School, we are committed to providing the resources and programs to assist you in your transition to university and get you started on your way to academic success. We will encourage you to be critical thinkers and we will provide you with competencies to manage sustainable organizations in a diverse and multicultural environment. In addition, we are well positioned, as a business school, to prepare you for the recovery of the economy following the current crisis. Passionate people work in the hospitality and tourism industry. They are strong and resilient. Together, we will work towards a better tourism.
But business is not the only thing. At Ryerson, we value a complete education - knowledge, skills, and morals. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, "we must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."
The next step is attending our virtual HTM Academic Orientation on Tuesday, August 31st at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time (Canada). Orientation is mandatory for incoming students and allows you to get to know Ryerson and HTM. Please RSVP on the Orientation Events page. In the meantime, the Ted Rogers School of Management has Pre-Orientation Programming that you can sign up for in August. Make sure you know what other steps you need to take as a new student to Ryerson.
As you are all well aware of, this academic year will again be marked by the pandemic, and Ryerson made the decision to keep you safe and to propose all courses online for the Fall semester. You are now familiar with online learning, but I encourage you to take advantage of the many (online, but also increasingly on-site) services that Ryerson and the School have to offer - from attending events, participating in student associations and sports, to cultivating lasting relationships with friends, staff, and faculty - your time spent at Ryerson will be an experience you will remember for years to come.
I am looking forward to meeting you soon. Again, welcome and all the best!
