HTM Entrance Awards

In recognition of Ryerson University’s goal to attract the very best possible students to the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the following organizations have created competitive entrance awards which are open to all new students entering Ryerson University and our HTM program for the first time.  We encourage you to apply!  Applications can be submitted online at  https://ryerson.awardspring.ca/, external link

Application process is done through Awardsspring, you must set up a profile and then submit your essay for each of the HTM entrance awards as listed below.  You can use the same essay for all awards but you can only win one of these awards

* The Canadian Hotel Investment Conference Entrance Award, and the Peter Fyvie Entrance Award recipients must be Canadian Citizens/Permanent Residents/a Protected Persons and Ontario residents only. You must also show financial need in your profile.

Eligibility

All students entering Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management for the first time will be considered for these prestigious awards provided that they:

  • Submit a covering letter.
  • Provide a copy of the official transcript that was submitted with their Ryerson application exhibiting high academic performance
  • Include their past community, industry and scholastic achievements.
  • Demonstrate in writing, a clear understanding of their motivation for selecting Hospitality and Tourism Management as their field of study at the university level, in a type-written, double-spaced essay not exceeding 750 words in length which addresses the following topic: “Why I Chose Hospitality and Tourism Management for my Professional Academic Education”.

Applications can be submitted online at  https://ryerson.awardspring.ca/, external link. The deadline to submit an application for these awards is September 14, 2019.

 

Additional Entrance Award

Marriott Hotels Entrance Awards (6)                                                         $1,100

This award is not online so you must submit your application to the HTM Administration Office at TRS 3-002. Please include a copy of your resume. The deadline to submit an application for this award is September 14, 2019.

Requirements for this award;

  • Demonstrate in writing a clear understanding of your motivation for selecting Hospitality and Management as your field of study at the university level in an essay, not exceeding 750 words in length, which addresses the following topic: “Why I Chose Hospitality and Tourism Management for my professional education.”
  • submit a copy of your resume
  • include your past community, industry and scholastic achievements.

HTM Entrance award winners will be posted in October 2019. Recipients will receive their award at the HTM Awards Ceremony in the fall.

They are available to students entering their first year of the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, Retail Management, or School of Accounting and Finance programs. To be eligible for the one-time award, students must have a minimum 85% final average in their final year of high school, and demonstrate financial need and leadership in extracurricular activities or community involvement. There are four awards available annually, at a value of up to $10,000 each. Deadline to Apply: Deadline has ended

They are available to students entering their first year of the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, Retail Management, or School of Accounting and Finance programs with a minimum 85% final average in their final year of high school, who also demonstrate financial need and leadership in extracurricular activities or community involvement. They are available to students entering their first year of the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, Retail Management, or School of Accounting and Finance programs with a minimum 85% final average in their final year of high school and leadership in extracurricular activities or community involvement. PDF fileThe Jon and Nancy Love Entrance Award

It is available to incoming full-time undergraduate students who are commencing their first year of a program in the Ted Rogers School of Management. To be eligible for the award, students must have previously participated in the Pathways to Education program (preference is given to Pathways to Education applicants). Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. There are four (4) awards, with a value of up to 90% the cost of tuition. The awards are renewable on an annual basis for up to three years if the recipients meet the renewal criteria. Deadline to Apply: Deadline has ended

It recognizes the academic achievement and exceptional leadership of a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce degree. The award is available to students entering their second, third or fourth year of the full-time undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce degree. Deadline to Apply: Deadline has ended

PDF fileThe Ryerson University Business Alumni Association (RUBAA)/Ken Jones Award

It is available to 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students in the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, Accounting and Finance or Retail Management program. The award is based on demonstrated academic achievement and leadership contributions to TRSM and the greater Toronto community. There is one award, with a value of $1,000.
