*NOTE: Starting in the 2019-2020 academic year, Practicum and Practicum Seminar will only be offered ONCE a year in the Winter semesters*

The Practicum Workshop is a half-day workshop held approximately 4 months before the Practicum term begins. All students MUST attend a Practicum workshop as the first step to "register" for their intended Practicum term. Students who plan on completing a Fall Practicum must attend the workshop in April, and those planning to complete a Winter Practicum must attend a workshop in August. Workshops are usually held on the last Friday of April and August, however this is subject to change each year. All students will be sent an email from the Department Administrator with the workshop date 1-2 months in advance and asked to register.

Workshop dates for Fall 2018 and Winter 2019 Practicum are as follows.

Fall 2018: FRIDAY APRIL 27th, 2018, 6-9 PM

Winter 2019: FRIDAY AUGUST 17th, 2018, 9 AM - 1 PM

*Please RSVP to with student ID#

The Practicum Workshop is intended to help students understand the practicum process, what is expected of them and how they will benefit from the experience. The practicum guidebook, which all students will receive, forms the basis for the day’s discussion. The workshop is an opportunity for students to ask questions and to meet their fellow Practicum students face to face.

Some students feel trepidation about beginning the Practicum. This workshop offers a good opportunity to prepare for the Practicum term. It is conducted in a relaxed, informative and social manner and is a great opportunity to meet classmates, particularly for students who have taken courses primarily online.

Students from out of province or from a significant distance away from Toronto (e.g., Sault Ste. Marie) have the option to attend using distance learning technology. Students should indicate at the time of signing up for the workshop if they will be attending online, rather than in person.

What to bring to the workshop: Each student will need a notepad and pen or laptop for note-taking. All students will be provided with the most updated version of the Practicum Guidebook and Timeline/Task List for the upcoming Practicum semester.

See you at the next Workshop!

Flexible Schedule

Students in the Health Services Management and Health Information Management programs have the option of taking courses online, in the evening or on weekends. They can also mix the various modes of study.
