Michael Nicin brings extensive policy expertise to institute
January 09, 2018

The National Institute on Ageing (NIA), based at Ted Rogers School of Management, is pleased to announce the appointment of leading policy expert Michael Nicin as Executive Director.

“It’s an exciting time to lead the NIA, particularly at one of the most energetic and innovative universities in the country,” said Nicin. “Canada’s ageing population presents the opportunity to fundamentally rethink how we approach health care, retirement security and other facets of our social fabric to meet the diverse needs of seniors, and to help them thrive.”

As acting Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to the Ontario Minister of Seniors Affairs, Nicin recently led the design and launch of the $155 million provincial seniors strategy. Prior to this he also served as the Director of Policy and Strategic Planning for CARP, a 300,000 member based advocacy organization for older Canadians, and Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Children and Youth Services.

Nicin’s appointment is effective January 8, 2018.
