The Positions

Design Fabrication Zone - Design and Community Ambassador

The Design Fabrication Zone - Design & Community Ambassador will play a critical role in strengthening and promoting the DFZ brand identity, supporting Creative Innovation Studio initiatives, connecting with DFZ members and building our community. We’re looking for a creative and talented designer who has a passion and an eye for all things design. They will produce internal and external marketing assets to ensure they meet Studio standards for fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for visually sophisticated audiences. They will assist with the conceptualization, planning and execution of community building initiatives. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design and produce graphics and marketing materials, including but not limited to digital media (newsletters, social media posts) and print (posters, flyers, postcards, brochures, banners).
  • Maintain, monitor and post content on website and social media accounts: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook.
  • Assist in creating and implementing a strategic plan to engage members, students, DFZ alumni and external community in DFZ activities to build community and brand awareness.
  • Work with the marketing coordinator to monitor and analyze social analytics and media performance.
  • Other duties as identified by the marketing coordinator/manager.
  • Interest in/Knowledge of creative fields related to design & fabrication such as art, architecture and interior design, product and industrial design, experience design and service design; considered an asset.

Fashion Zone - Marketing Ambassator

The Fashion Zone is seeking a self-motivated, articulate individual who thrives working alongside a tightly-knit, dynamic team in a fast-paced environment for the position of Marketing Ambassador. The ideal candidate is studying (or has an interest in) marketing, business, and/or communications with a strong social media presence and proven ability to create compelling content. Those willing to gain an understanding of visual and written communication  as a business tool or understanding event and project management, and teamwork would greatly benefit  from this experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Contributing to the update of Fashion Zone website written and visual content
  • Assist the marketing team with posting on and monitoring blogs, forums, and Social media networks
  • Schedule the social calendar, online outreach and promotion through social media channels; 
  • Assist with creating, writing, and producing written and visual content for each channel
  • Contribute to follower acquisition (i.e., replying to follower comments on social media channels, likes, re-tweets, etc.)
  • Work with the marketing coordinator to monitor and analyze social analytics and media performance
  • Assist with graphic design for branding assets and Fashion Zone events
  • Coordinating weekly internal newsletters, digital signage and other internal communications
  • Assist with marketing analytics and content performance management. 
  • Other duties as identified by the marketing coordinator/manager.

Fashion Zone - Indigenous Fashion Support Program Events and Community Relations Ambassador

The Fashion Zone’s Indigenous Fashion Support Program (IFS) Program is a free, virtual incubation program that supports Indigenous entrepreneurs to experience the journey of building or scaling a business in the fashion industry. With a focus on fashion, product and technology, the program enables participants to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills while developing real-life solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Events and Community Relations Ambassador plans and executes events and internal programming for the IFS and Fashion Zone programs. Projects could include but are not limited to planning, execution, and support of programs, internal events, and support on improving the IFS start-ups' overall experience. The Events and Community Relations Ambassador will play an integral role in the planning and execution of programming at the IFS. The role will require written and oral communication skills, collaboration with organizations and community groups, event planning, organization, coordination, administration, problem-solving, and creative thinking. It will also require the student to be a welcoming face to the IFS community. The Events and Community Relations Ambassador will work closely with the Fashion Zone Manager and Coordinator. This will develop the student's collaboration and communication skills. it will also build the student's soft skills and provide them with an experiential learning opportunity.

  • Assists with event logistics and internal communication (mentor meetings, member inquiries, scheduling)
  • Develops resources related to internal community programming and projects
  • Assists with executing internal community engagement programs
  • Works closely with the Zone Management and Coordinator on supporting internal programming at the IFS/Fashion Zone
  • Other duties as identified by the Zone Management/Coordinator

Transmedia Zone - Marketing & Community Ambassador

The Transmedia Zone - Marketing & Community Ambassador will play a critical role in strengthening and promoting the TZ brand identity, supporting Creative Innovation Studio initiatives, connecting with TZ members and building our community. The student will be encouraged to gain as much exposure to the excitement in the Transmedia Zone and engage in innovative projects and entrepreneurial initiatives, first hand. 

Major responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain, monitor and post content on website and social media accounts.
  • Create graphics and write copy for internal & external communications and promotions 
  • Identify opportunities to support zone members and to promote entrepreneurism on campus so as to engage more students in zone learning activities.
  • Assist with the conceptualization, planning and execution of community building initiatives.
  • Other duties as identified by the marketing coordinator/manager. 
  • Interest in/Knowledge of creative fields related to Storytelling such as film, media, journalism, web series, games, podcasts, digital experiences and more!
