Status and Deadlines

Transfer Credit Status and Processing Times

Processing time is dependent on various factors including the type of application method used and whether you are a newly admitted or a current resident.

  • Newly admitted students starting in fall: Our office will start processing applications in May for students who have confirmed their offer of admission — please be patient as application volume is high during spring/summer months. You will receive an acknowledgement email when your applications are processed.
  • Current students: Our office will process most applications in about five business days - after your applications are processed, you will receive an acknowledgement email.
    • Faculty decisions for No Rule courses can take six to eight weeks from the time a complete application is submitted.
  • Chang School certificate and graduate students: Granted and Denied statuses will be posted to the report once an assessment is completed by faculty — this may take up to eight weeks from the date a complete application is received.

After your transfer credits are processed, check your Transfer Credit Report frequently on MyServiceHub for status updates. Courses you submitted with an in progress (IP) grade, or for which final grades cannot be confirmed, will not be displayed on the Transfer Credit Report and you will not be able to upload course outlines. They will appear when official transcripts confirming grades are received.

Transfer Credit Application Deadlines and Late Fees

You are encouraged to apply for all eligible transfer credits as soon as you accept your Offer of Admission. Applying for transfer credits early allows you to not only receive transfer credit results prior to the start of the upcoming term, but also helps you to plan your program completion in advance.

Undergraduate Students

A complete application including all requested supporting documents such as course outline and transcripts must be submitted before the deadline.

Returning students are subject to a late fee – see below for details.

The yearly transfer credit application processing cycle is May to April.

All new Toronto Metropolitan University students are invited to submit transfer credit application for free before April 1 of the following year. For example, if you are admitted to the university for fall 2020, the application is free until April 1, 2021. If you submit a transfer credit application after the free period, a $50 transfer credit late fee is charged to each submission of transfer credit applications, made singularly or in batch.

The transfer credit late fee also applies to previously submitted incomplete applications that are followed up after the free period. For example, you were requested to submit a detailed course outline or a recent transcript but you did not follow up before April 1.

Transfer Credit Reassessment

You will be subject to a late fee if you submit a Transfer Credit Reassessment Request after one year of your original application. For example, if you submitted a transfer credit application for fall 2020 and you are not satisfied with your transfer credit results, you must submit an appeal before the start of fall 2021.

The transfer credit late fee is a non-refundable processing fee, which is assigned to your record upon submission of a late application.

The Late Fee will be assigned to your record. Review the Holds section of your Student Center on the MyServiceHub tab of my.torontomu.ca (opens in new window) .

To have the hold removed, please pay the late fee as soon as possible as the hold affects your ability to view grades and request official university documentation such as transcripts. For more information, please visit the Service Fee Form Guide page.

Holds for paid late fees will be removed within two business days.

Chang School Certificate and Graduate Students

You are encouraged to apply for all eligible transfer credits as soon as you are registered in a program.

Late submission of a transfer credit application may delay your program completion.

The transfer credit late fee does not apply to Chang School Certificate and graduate students.
