Important notice: In response to COVID-19 and delayed construction for safety upgrades on the rooftop farm, the Urban Farm has temporarily reduced its operations and cancelled programming until further notice.
How we grow
We farm using ecological methods that support the health and well-being of our surrounding ecosystem. Our produce is spray-free, meaning we do not use any pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. To maintain soil fertility, we practice a five-year crop rotation and apply natural soil amendments such as compost, compost tea, and kelp emulsion.
Where you can find our produce
Please note: Due to changes to our 2020 growing season as a result of COVID-19, the Urban Farm is unable to provide produce to the Ryerson community this year through the Farm Stand, Ryerson Market and Harvest Share.
Our vegetables are featured on the Ryerson Eats catering menu and can be enjoyed at campus eateries.
You can find our produce at the Good Food Centre, external link at the Ryerson Students’ Union for community distribution.
In partnership with Alvéole, external link and with the generous support of Rodney Yip, three beehives on the roof produce approximately 45kg of unpasteurized honey each year.
