Urban Water TMU Seminar on the Atlantic First Nations Water Authority

Carl Yates, inaugural and interim CEO of the Atlantic First Nations Water Authority (AFNWA), spoke to Urban Water TMU and the community on October 28th 2020 as part of the Urban Water TMU seminar series. 

Carl introduced the ground breaking work of the AFNWA. The AFNWA is a water authority owned and operated by First Nations communities in Atlantic Canada (Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik) which gives the water and control over it back to the people that it serves. The focal points of the authority include: Fisheries (external link, opens in new window) Health (external link, opens in new window) Water (external link, opens in new window) Economic (external link, opens in new window) Housing (external link, opens in new window) , and Governance (external link, opens in new window) .
