Discussing EU and Canada’s actions for sustainable urban development

On February 5th, Urban Water TMU, supported by the Faculty of Science and the Chang School of Continuing Education hosted the European Union Consulates of Toronto for their EU Talks series. The topic was:

“The European Union and Canada’s actions for sustainable urban development: Are we moving at the right pace?”

Panellists included Henk Ovink, the well known Dutch Water Ambassador, Geoff Cape - CEO of Evergreen Future Cities Canada, Jim Baxter - Director of Environment and Engery of City of Toronto and Katrina Luhr - Deputy Mayor of the City of Stockholm, who participated via video link. The panel was moderated by Nick Reid, Executive Director of Urban Water TMU.

Each panelist provided their remarks on climate change adaptation and the resiliency of cities in their respective jurisdictions, followed by an energetic discussion with questions from the moderator and the audience. Conversations continued over a light lunch, courtesy of the Faculty of Science.
