You are now in the main content area

Navigation is a necessary component of every website. It provides visitors with consistent access to the content sections of your site.

The responsive templates offer up to three levels of navigation, based on the file structure within your site. There are two display options available for displaying site navigation (see screencaptures below).

  1. Horizontal (level one) + left (levels two and three)
  2. Left only - all three levels

In the page properties of the homepage template, click on the Navigation tab and select one of the following choices:

  • Horizontal and left - Level 1 is displayed as horizontal; Levels 2 & 3 are set as left vertical navigation, or
  • Left - All three levels of navigation are located in the left sidebar

Open Page Properties > Go to Navigation Tab

  • Open page properties of the page you want displayed in navigation. This can be done in one of two ways:
    • via Site Admin, right-click on your file, select Properties, or
    • in open page go to Sidekick > Page tab (second tab) > Page Properties
  • Click checkbox for “Show in Navigation”
  • Click OK
  • Reload page to view in navigation
  • Ensure that the left section of your page is "visible" in order to see left navigation.

To show a page in navigation, select the checkbox in the page properties of the file.

The text in the Title field (when you created your file) is the default navigation label displayed in navigation. If you want to modify this label without modifying your "Title" (which is also your Page Title and page H1), you can create a shorter navigation label by doing the following:

  • Open page properties of the file
  • Go to Navigation Field> add new text
  • Close page properties and reactivate page
