The dashboard is integrated into CQ/AEM and can be accessed via the dashboard icon in the toolbar, or directly via:

The main interface of the dashboard includes two options:

Missing Alternate Text - view all non-decorative images and/or images without alternate text

Decorative  - view all images marked as decorative; decorative images are images that have no direct relevance to the content. They are generally used for aesthetic purposes.

Get to the Dashboard via the toolbar

To meet AODA compliance, add alternative text to all images under "Missing Alternative Text"

  • Click on the + sign to list all sites you have access to.
  • Navigate through the tree view
  • Images will be marked as followed:
    • Red, or critical, means that the asset was created after January 1, 2014, making it mandatory to either be marked as a decorative image or have alternate text inputted
    • Yellow, signifies that it is not mandatory to be marked as a decorative image or have alternate text inputted, but it is still recommended to improve accessibility
  • Other information available for an image include: thumbnail; name; full path of the image; last modified date; width and height  

Entering ALT text

  1. Select on an image in the right pane
  2. To the right, an image preview and metadata tab will be displayed.
  3. Add an alt tag in the Title field.
  4. Click Save, in the toolbar above your images. 
  5. Do this for all images requiring Alternative Text

Mark an image as decorative

  1. Click on an image you want to mark as decorative
  2. Click “Mark As Decorative” in the toolbar
    Alternatively - user can select an image and “Unmark As Decorative”
  3. Proceed to the next image.
  4. Proceed to "Saving your work"

Add alternative text to Title field and then save

  • After marking images as decorative and/or adding alternate text
  • Click on the “Save” button in the toolbar to save all of your changes.
  • To continue to the WCM click on blue Continue button at the top-right corner of the dashboard.

Saving your changes will activate any updated images
