Productivity & Efficiency Analysis Research Lab (PEARL)

The Productivity & Efficiency Analysis Research Lab (PEARL) specializes in the study of production, transportation and business processes aiming at continuous productivity improvement. Performance measurement, effectiveness and efficiency analysis are the focus of our studies. We use variety of simulation (discrete-event, agent-based, etc.) and optimization tools to analyze, diagnose and improve processes. The following are some recent projects that have been completed in collaborations with industry partners:

  • Simulation analysis of scramble pedestrian crossing at busy intersections
  • Productivity Improvement through simulation and value stream mapping in a client-based service industry
  • An efficient heuristic-based approach to large-scale labour scheduling problem
  • Productivity improvement in a multi-product manufacturing assembly line using simulation
  • A progressive assembly simulation model for sealing operations in a technology-based company
