What We Offer

The Biomedical Zone works with entrepreneurs and companies creating innovative need-based solutions for the clinical environment. Our incubator’s unique integrated business and clinical validation process allows startups to test their solutions directly in the healthcare setting, accelerating their path to market and enabling impactful change to our healthcare system.

We have companies working with different hospitals and care facilities across Canada conducting pre-market validation studies, while refining their business model and value proposition. The Biomedical Zone offers the resources needed to accelerate product development from early prototype stages to commercialization.

As a member of the Biomedical Zone, you’ll gain access to our advisory network, online resources, expert-led webinars and workshops, co-working spaces, exclusive events, and so much more. 

Clinical Validation

From conversations with physicians and hospital staff to observerships and clinical trials, we help our startups engage with Unity Health Toronto, research centres, and other hospitals to validate their technology with experts in their field.

Education

Our first-in-class Business Acceleration & Clinical Enagement Program (BACE) provides our startups with one-on-one mentorship, online resources, workshops & seminars, and curated opportunities to connect with fellow founders and subject matter experts. Our programming provides our startups the opportunity to learn about complex topics within the healthcare system. Some of the topics include

Facilities

Embedded in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute in the heart of downtown Toronto, the Biomedical Zone is at the centre of science and research at St. Michael's Hospital. The Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute runs clinical trials, and specializes in research on health services and policy, population health, global health and knowledge translation research at St. Michael's Hospital.
