A “Dummy” to Solve the “Puzzle”

To figure out how to impose the 8 pages of our brochure onto a 4-page press sheet, let’s make a mockup, or “folding dummy,” of the booklet:

1. Fold a sheet of 8½×11" paper lengthwise.
2. Make a second fold perpendicular to the first.
3. Write the page numbers 1 through 8 on the folded pages. Write a line under each number because some numbers look the same, right side up and upside down.
4. Unfold the pages to show the imposition layout.
