On every second Wednesday of April, we proudly wear pink attire to honour the International Day of Pink, commemorating an initiative by Canadian students to courageously challenge homophobic and transphobic bullying.

All 2SLGBTQ+ community members and allies are invited to join us to honour Day of Pink. Following presentations from our dynamic speakers, we call on all participants to join our group photo. You're encouraged to come wearing pink.

This year’s theme is “Let’s Celebrate Visibility Together”. In celebrating visibility together, we acknowledge the intricate and multifaceted nature of our identities. We adopt an intersectional approach to understanding our identities as 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, recognizing how factors such as race, gender identity, disability, religion, and more intersect to shape our experiences. By recognizing these intersections, we embrace the diverse backgrounds and perspectives within our community. We stand in solidarity with other equity community networks, recognizing the significance of collaboration and mutual support in our shared mission to promote inclusivity and equity on campus and in broader contexts.

We are excited to center student voices in this year’s Day of Pink event including:

  • Roger Castelo (he/they), Professional Communication Student, LGBTQIA+ Group Mentoring Lead, Tri-Mentoring Program
  • Julia Lawrence (she/her), Journalism Student, The Society of The Creative School
  • Kirsten Rowe (she/her), Media Production Student, Centre for Safer Sex and Sexual Violence Support

This event is wheelchair accessible

The Positive Space Faculty and Staff Network is committed to the accessibility and inclusion of persons with disabilities. If you require any additional accessibility accommodations to ensure your full participation, please email positivespace@torontomu.ca
