Indigenous students are invited to join Sloan Miller for an online guided meditation workshop. Sloan will lead participants through the fundamentals of mindfulness-based meditation and will facilitate a guided visualization session. This visualization exercise will delve into the teachings that animals can offer us, shedding light on our connection with Mother Earth as we walk upon her.
About Sloan Miller
Sloan (Jo) Miller is the Community Outreach and Recruitment Officer for Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services. She is of Mi'kmaq and Celtic ancestry from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. Sloan is a Social Work alumnus of TMU and is passionate about the university and the programs offered here.
Her role is to assist students in navigating application procedures, and she continues to support Indigenous students throughout their time at TMU. Sloan has worked in the Indigenous helping profession in Toronto and beyond for nearly 30 years. She is certified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction by R.W. Knight, MD, and has also spent many years working with the Elders to learn Indigenous teachings and techniques to assist herself and others on their life journey.
