Exams move to Mattamy Athletic Centre

From December 06, 2016 to December 17, 2016, approximately 40,000 exams will be written at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (external link, opens in new window)  (MAC) at 50 Carlton St.

It is a new exam location this year, replacing the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where exams have been written in the past. (Some exams will be written elsewhere on campus).

For exams at the MAC, students will be allowed to:

• Keep their bags under their desks. (In previous years, only valuables in a ziplock bag were kept under their desks).

• Keep coats on the backs of chairs.

• Wear hats and other accessories, subject to inspection and discretion. Baseball hats must be turned backwards.

Students will not be allowed to:

• Wear a watch. Watches must be placed in their bags, under their desks. (In classrooms without clocks, the time can be displayed by using the projector, or written on the board every 15 minutes).

These changes were made in discussion with chairs, deans and directors; the Learning and Teaching Office; internal academic integrity stakeholders including the Academic Integrity Office (AIO), the Secretary of Senate, the Board Secretariat’s Legal Counsel and Academic Accommodation Support; and invigilators and students. The practices of other universities were also examined. 

Exam procedures may be different in classrooms on campus. If your professor prefers that your coats and bags go to the front of the room, a ziplock bag will be available for you to place your valuables under your desk.
