To examine the Canadian healthcare and the manager’s role in a health services organization.

Admission Requirements

A three-year CAAT diploma (or equivalent) in an applied health science with a grade average of “B” or higher; OR a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited university. Minimum 2 years of current experience in the healthcare environment is required for either entrance option.

Health Information Management

Focus

To examine the Canadian healthcare system and the role that health information system play in health services organizations.

Admission Requirements

Minimum of a 2 year HIM diploma from a CHIMA-accredited college; OR a 3 year CAAT diploma in an applied health science; OR a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited university. Minimum 2 years of work experience in health information management is required.

Experiential Learning

The Practicum is the culmination of all other courses in both the Health Services Management and Health Information Management programs. It includes weekly on-site sessions in a healthcare environment under the supervision of a site supervisor, as well as three weekends of in-class learning and sharing ideas and information with classmates and faculty advisors.

Career Ready

Graduates of the Health Services Management and Health Information Management programs work in organizations such as the Ministry of Health, the Canadian Institutes for Health Information and major health institutions across Canada, including Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the University Health Network and Cancer Care Ontario (CCO).

Flexible Schedule

Students in the Health Services Management and Health Information Management programs have the option of taking courses online, in the evening or on weekends. They can also mix the various modes of study.
