Trophy Win in Phoenix Challenge Flexo Competition Ryerson flexo students won the "Top Technical Execution Award" at the third annual Phoenix Challenge Flexo Competition held recently in Las Vegas. A team of six GCM students developed and presented to judges their proposed solution for packaging of personal care products for hotel guest rooms. Their work involved research, design and production of clear polypropylene labels and paper soap wrappers on the GCM Comco Cadet flexo press. As part of the students' research and planning, they visited Toronto-area flexo plants, including GMF Flexo Prepress and H.Moore Printing Services and consulted with industry experts. An additional five GCM students traveled to Las Vegas to support the 6-member team. Those students not directly competing helped with fund raising. GCM was also proud to display a student-designed booth featuring flexo at Ryerson at the FTA Info-flex trade show held following the Phoenix Challenge. While in Las Vegas, students had the opportunity to attend the FTA Flexo Forum and Info-flex, speak with industry experts, and meet other students from nine other universities and colleges.
