Fur Design

This course is an introduction to the use of fur and skins in apparel design. Lectures, including historical and present-day perspectives on fashion and the fur industry, will contextualize studio practice. The unique characteristics of specific furs will be identified and discussed in terms of design implications and production requirements. Students will design fur and fur-trimmed garments; muslins will be constructed and critiqued.
