FIN 731

Financial Modeling II

This course will provide students with an introduction to effectively using Excel to solve many common problems that arise in finance and investments. The course will provide students with an overview of what is involved in creating an effective financial model. Students will then apply these financial modeling guidelines to a variety of investment problems. The student will also be given an introduction to Visual Basic and how it can add to the effectives of financial modeling with Excel. The student will gain an insight into how to more effectively use Excel to analyze some common investment problems. In addition the student will learn how through effective financial modeling solutions to financial problems, can be tested to see how sensitive the solution is to the assumptions made in the model. As well, the student will learn how to present clearly and effectively the results of their financial modeling analysis. The course will build upon what the student has learned in FIN 631.
