Nutrition and Metabolism

In this course, students will learn about carbohydrates, lipids and protein; the major metabolic pathways and the internal and external factors that influence their regulation; as well as energy balance. Emphasis will be placed on metabolic intermediaries that are important for nutritional assessment and dietary intervention. Using the DRI requirements for nutrients and physical activity, students will enhance their understanding of dietary intake analysis and its application to dietary guidelines and interventions.
