Canadian Political Economy
Political economy examines the relationship between states and markets and places their political, economic and social setting in historical perspective. This course reviews the classical literatures, including Innis, Mackintosh and Marxian perspectives, on Canadian political economy, and discusses the main historical phases in Canada’s development. It examines contemporary issues by highlighting Canada’s distinctiveness. These issues will include inequality and redistribution, macroeconomic and trade policies, and important variations among the provinces. (Canadian)
