Alireza Khatami is an award-winning writer and director whose trademark is folding fantasy elements into otherwise realistic narratives. His works address the questions of memory and trauma, crossing various disciplinary boundaries. Alireza’s writing, video art and movies have been showcased and award in many festivals including Cannes, Berlinale, Vernice, Locarno and Rotterdam. Prior to joining Toronto Met, Alireza taught for 6 years at the Lebanese American University in Lebanon and DePaul University in the US. His first feature film, Oblivion Verses premiered at the 74th Venice International Film Festival where it picked three awards including the Orizzonti Award for Best Screenplay and the FIPRESCI Award for Best Debut Film.
