Project Description

This disco ball Hello is a shining example of the work that we do best in the Design + Technology LAB. A coming together of creative minds and a wide range of digital fabrication technology. Originally painted using Tiltbrush in VR with our Valve Index headset, we exported the model we liked best and cut it down the middle. Using the Multicamcanada CNC mill we carved it out of rigid insulation foam. We then put the two halves together with a laser cut frame. The resulting 3D form was then covered with small laser cut acrylic mirror tiles we cut on our Trotec SP500. This part took many hands and many hours of patience! The final step was to mount it to the end of the Kuka KR150-2500 robotic arm. The sunshine did the rest!
