Introducing new four-stream waste receptacles in VIC

July 09, 2019
Four-stream waste receptacles to the Victoria Building.

Facilities Services and Sustainability is proud to announce the introduction of new four-stream waste receptacles to the Victoria Building (VIC). This is part of a larger, campus-wide upgrade plan where new waste receptacles will be introduced in a phased approach.

How it works

Previously the VIC Building had a three-stream waste system which separated waste destined to landfill, mixed paper, and bottles and cans. The new four-stream bins add an organics stream. This will reduce contamination between streams and decrease the amount of organics in landfill.

The new receptacles feature updated signage to guide proper waste disposal. In most cases, the new receptacles were placed in the same locations as the existing ones or nearby where it fits best.

Participate in waste management on campus

Ryerson is committed to advancing its waste management practices across campus. Please look out for these new four-stream bins and learn what waste goes where to do your part. By sorting waste correctly, you will help to divert recyclables and organic materials from landfill.

Interested in participating in sustainability at Ryerson? We also offer waste audits and training.
