Associate professor and graduate program director Asmaa Malik was most recently deputy managing editor of the Gazette in Montreal, where she directed the news organization’s multiplatform digital strategy and started a monthly column on how online networks influence our offline relationships. Over the past 16 years, she has played several key management roles at the Gazette and the Toronto Star, where she was weekend features editor and a books columnist. She has also taught at Concordia University in Montreal and LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y.  She has lived in several cities, including Albany, N.Y.; Tabuk, Saudi Arabia; Lahore, Pakistan; Boston; Baltimore  and Washington, D.C. Her love of journalism is rivalled only by her obsession with standup comedy.
