Inaugural Al Hamilton Lecture

On March 27, 2024, Allya Davidson gave the inagural Al Hamilton Lecture, detailing the important history of Al Hamilton, Contrast Magazine and discussing why, in a time of media consolidation, young journalists—especially those from marginalized communities—should pursue investigative journalism.

Davidson is an RTDNA, Emmy and Canadian Screen Award-winning investigative journalist and the Executive Producer of the CBC News flagship investigative documentary series The Fifth Estate. Davidson, the first Black person to lead the series, is also an active mentor to racialized journalists and aspiring journalists through the Canadian Association of Journalists and other organizations.
