Biography

MING-BO LAM (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary creative, educator, speaker, and dance artist, with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Ming-Bo is recognized for her ability to lead with unwavering empathy, integrity, and courage, and her work facilitating safe and educational spaces for novice and professional movers alike.

With a career that continues to flourish, Ming-Bo has choreographed for theatre and film productions, independent dance projects and commissions. Select performance credits include the Much Music Video Awards, the Toronto Raptors’ Dance Pak, The Umbrella Academy, Nike Canada, PSY, Fashion Art Toronto, and the NBA All Star Weekend.

Ming-Bo possesses a diverse and well-rounded educational background. She graduated on the Dean’s List, with an Honours BFA, in Theatre Performance Dance from Toronto Metropolitan (Ryerson) University, where she was also selected as valedictorian. In addition, she holds a Master’s in Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship degree from Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business.

Ming-Bo operates with the belief that empowering artists with business acumen and know-how can help shift the power imbalances in the industry and create more sustainable, long-term careers. It is this belief, blended with her impressive artistic accomplishments, that led Ming-Bo to become a three-time speaker at the Dancer Transition Resource Centre’s (DTRC) ‘On The Move’ conference. Her presentation on ‘Building a Digital Portfolio’ was also featured as part of the DTRC’s 2022 national workshop series.

Currently, Ming-Bo teaches at TMU's The Creative School and Sheridan College's Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program, in addition to her freelance work.
