Rei Tasaka

Email Address:

I have over nine years of experience as an urban designer and planner in a range of projects from community design and site planning to large-scale, mixed-use master planning as well as extensive experience in public consultation in both in Ontario and in Europe. I have been heavily involved in Toronto’s waterfront initiatives, contributing to the urban development and design of the East Bayfront West Precinct and the Portlands area. I worked on the master planning and visioning for Cork’s South Docklands in Ireland which proposed a sustainable design framework and implementation strategy to create a diverse waterfront community.

I have led a number of land-use development plans for urban and suburban communities in Ontario, the Dana Village Local Development Plan for potential future tourism infrastructure and the conceptual design and implementation strategy for Dundas Street West in Toronto. I have also worked on the design of the neighbourhood plans and plans of subdivision for Seaton in North Pickering and the urban design for the Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration and Streetscaping. As design manager, I was involved in the Education City Masterplan Integrator project in Doha, Qatar. Currently, I am an urban designer and design project manager at Waterfront Toronto, working on various planning and design initiatives including Central Waterfront and the Port Lands revitalization. As an intern architect I have been involved in residential and office tower development, exhibitions, and commercial interior renovations in Tokyo, Chicago and Toronto.
