Electromagnetic Muscle

A series of electromagnets confined within an isolated tube working abasing resistance simulates the contraction and relaxation of muscles and their symbiotic relationship with tendons. By having 2 electromagnets on opposite ends of the inside of a non magnetic pipe, as the two magnets attempt to attract, though a combination of the resistant material, acting as a spring, the magnets have the binary tendency to attract towards each other, or be pushed apart by the resistance spring (likely low resistance foam material). This functionality is supposed to mimic the contraction and relaxation in of muscles. The first iteration of this this project will act a linear plane, with the options of relaxing and contracting within the tube in a two dimensional manner, although their is potential of creating a three dimensional muscle using the same basic concept of magnets attracting or relaxing with resistance. I use the term muscle as it properly represents the functionality of the idea, although concept is versatile in its application. By applying a spectrum of amperage to the muscle, the muscle will contract and relax accordingly, creating the possibility for precise calculated movements motors or pistons could not recreate. Furthermore, electromagnets have high weight caring capabilities in relation to their size, giving the design scalable capabilities with the option of making a smaller muscle or a larger, therefore stronger muscle.
