O For Oculus

Artist: Serkan Ozkaya (1973) is a conceptual artist whose work deals with topics of appropriation and reproduction.

Project: "O" is a solid transparent orb, which acts as a lens without a designated front or back, therefore delineating everything and everyone around itself in a new and interactive perspective for its spectators. The orb multiplies and flips the view of its surrounding space upside down, making everything around us seem anew and an exciting rediscovery. As installed in a highly trafficked public sphere, the orb can highlight how deeply effectual a transitional space can become by reminding us that visual order and architecture dictates human conduct, and how flipping it can lead to fresh behaviors being instilled.
